11/27/17. Sometimes when it takes a while for us to learn about a class member who has passed away, it’s almost always with the help of another class member. The way that happened this time had an interesting family twist: Nancy White Paul said that while visiting the local Fidelity office recently, she was helped by “a young man who, it turned out, is the great nephew of our classmate, Paul Pope. He said Paul had died in 2017.” She did some sleuthing and found a class Facebook post from 2017 about him but noticed he was still shown on our site’s Found Classmates list and got in touch. We took it from there and tracked down his obituary so we could get his listing fully up to date.

Paul worked in construction and as a plumber in the Ann Arbor area. There were a lot of females in his family – among them two daughters, two granddaughters, and four sisters – and he loved them all.

Paul was a really active guy, counting motorcycles, four wheelers and his Baja boat as favorite things, and those added to his enjoyment of his time spent at Torch Lake. As his obituary says, “a good day for Paul included time on the water, a meal cooked on the grill, time spent with friends and family reminiscing about growing up on Zeeb Road with 5 siblings, the one-room schoolhouse, the produce stand, working the neighboring farm fields, motorcycle racing, the "grassers", and, of course, Torch Lake.”
